FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to create a login?
In order to be eligible for the raffle credit you need to create an account. You may take some of our tests anonymously, but this will not allow you to win raffle prizes.
- Why do I need to give my age?
In some studies, we are interested in how our tests change with age, but more importantly, children under the age of 18 need special permission by an adult to participate in these studies. Each study on this site is reviewed by the UCLA Office for Protection of Research Subjects, and only those that have received approval for study in those under the age of 18 are available to minors.
- What will my data be used for?
Your data will be made anonymous and used to examine how a community sample collected over the internet perform on tests of memory, attention, and cognitive flexibility.
- Will my information be shared with anyone?
No. Your data will not be shared with anyone. Neither researchers, doctors, nor other members of the UCLA community including other faculty members not listed in the consent form you signed.
- Who are you affiliated with?
We are affiliated with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. We are faculty members of the Psychiatry department, and have received funding from the National Institutes of Mental Health and NARSAD to examine these tests.
- May I get a clinical evaluation for myself or my child?
This is not a clinical evaluation. These are laboratory tests used strictly for research purposes. They are not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition.
- How should I contact you further?
The best way to contact us is through email. Priority will be given to email contact. You may also try calling during business hours on the west coast. Please see the About Us page for more information.
- When will there be other studies to participate in?
Each study we perform must go through a rigorous iterative process with our ethics board for protection of human research. We cannot anticipate when the process will be complete, however, if you choose to sign up for email or website contact, you may receive tips on when additional studies are available. Alternatively, you can opt to have us never contact you again. These settings can be changed on your account page at any time.
